When it comes to email automation and campaign creation, it’s easy to fall into the rabbit hole that leads you to believe that you need an email platform service such as aWeber or MailChimp to get more leads and clients from your WordPress site.
With expensive subscriptions, and the need to upgrade to accommodate the amount of subscribers you have- there must be another, more affordable, way… and there is!
It’s the Good News Newsletter & Autoresponder WordPress plugin. Here’s what it can do:
- Essential for A/B split testing to improve conversion rates.
- Unlimited subscribers in newsletter lists.
- No monthly subscriber fee.
Good News functions similar to aWeber or MailChimp, with unlimited subscribers at a fraction of the cost
This plugin places no limits on the amount of subscriber lists for each campaign or maximum capacity of overall subscribers. With it, you are able to send multiple campaigns out at a time, at no additional cost.
This is vital for conducting A/B testing on your site.
You’ll be able to send campaigns to each of your control groups without complications. To ensure that this will be manageable on a shared web host, Good News allows you to set the amount of correspondences to be sent out per hour so as not to cause problems with your web-hosting provider.
There is an built in subscribe/unsubscribe button within the newsletters, so you don’t need to waste your time manually managing subscriptions unless you so choose.
There is no monthly subscriber fee for Good News- you’ll simply pay the flat rate (which is under $20!) and start growing your business’s following.
The author of this Plugin, Dr. Alex Davidovic, offers support for the first 6 months after installing Good News. This allows you to create a support ticket where he’ll check up on your site. There is also an extensive FAQ for questions beyond this point.
Great for those who need simple functionality.
Good News is a great place for those starting out with autoresponders. If you are a seasoned pro, you will find it to have two defined limitations.
Good News does not have an auto-delete for bounced emails. The author, Dr. Alex Davidovic, claims to be working on this auto-delete feature, but it has yet to be released.
There is a Double Opt-In feature, which allows subscribers to confirm their email so you don’t waste time sending emails to empty accounts. If you choose to disable the Double Opt-In, you do run the risk of sending messages to bounced accounts, but it will be an annoyance at worst, since you are not paying for this plugin per subscriber.
Perhaps the most frustrating limitation is that there is no built-in tracking for clicks on newsletter links. This will have to be set up manually for your click through links by shortening them to a goo.gl address, which will automatically be tracked by google by adding a “+” or “.info” to the end of the goo.gl link.
Both of these limitations have manageable workarounds, and users are happy to give this Plugin a well-deserved top rating. For those of you with a large amount of subscribers with multiple email lists, Good News will do well to keep you in constant contact with your audiences.
Good News is a 5 star rated plugin for gaining and converting leads on your WordPress site.
- Stars: 5/5
- Bottom line: A quality newsletter plugin for business websites with good support.
